History: Stranger Things Wikia
CR AU (Optional): n/a

Personality:

Negative Trait: Insecure
Steve is coming in as a freshly graduated high school student. By this point he's already had a good character arc, going from the cocky, macho jock that everyone expected to really questioning his own values and beliefs. He did everything as expected of him, but at this point, coming into his adulthood. He isn't particularly good at anything, and he's going from being the quintessential prom king with popularity, being the basketball star, money, and all the privilege that a young, white male can afford in the 1980s. Now essentially he's being thrusted into the real world with very little skills as he's never needed them.

He's essentially gone from cocky to the opposite, learning who his real and true friends are. He has a lot of positive traits, but is it enough? Even in the small friend group that the younger kids made. Where does he stand when by the end of the third season it almost felt more like the kids were saving him, as they've aged and matured, too. Dustin literally does save him when he and Maya are tied up. Dustin is even convinced that Steve needs to find a new girl, someone he can fall for, calling into question Steve's own capabilities and sexuality. Dustin also points out the fact that he's still clinging to ideas like popularity after he's graduated high school and should move on from such primitive constructs. He knows he has a world ahead of him-- and possibly other dimensions, and where does he go? The end of the season is just left with a lot of open questions about his future with Steve working at a rental video store, but even he knows it feels empty and hollow, not what he's capable of.

Negative Trait: Obtuse
Steve really means well, but he is very much the stereotypical jock. He's a teenage boy with the privilege of a white, middle class male of his time. He was a jock with good looks, so he never really had to try hard at much. He's not exactly stupid, but he doesn't really think things through. He acts from emotion first and doesn't strain himself if he doesn't need to. Robin even comments about how dumb he was in his classes when she eventually comes out to him as a lesbian-- because he doesn't take the time to notice much about her and falls for her. He also has a habit of getting the crap kicked out of him.

Some of his bright ideas are showing up to apologize right when Nancy and Jonathon are trying to trap the demogorgon, he also gets into really dumb fights with Nancy that leads to their break up, and he comes to a fight with supernatural, other dimensional monsters with superpowers with a spiked up bat. He tends to show up in a lot of situations without proper weaponry, but still somehow manages to not die immediately. It really is through dumb luck like when he's kidnapped and drugged by Russian government officials, it really is Dustin's quick thinking that gets him out. He also just does not handle the entirety of the Russian government plot not well and requires his coworker Robin's help

Negative Trait: Needy
For as much good that Steve really does, half of the trouble he gets into is simply because in trying to find his sort of place after he realized he was kind of stereotypical jock douche he ends up needing to fit somewhere. He's a great dad to the younger kids and really does take to them quickly. There does seem to be some sort of shift though, because even as Dustin goes away and comes back, it almost seems like he needs his place with the younger kids to have any kind of meaning-- after all he just resumed to life without a girlfriend (something Dustin even tries to help with) and a job at the ice cream place in mall.

It really isn't much, but he just jumps right back into it with Lucas' sister, Dustin, and Robin as they try and figure out what the Russians are involved with in regards to the gate that was thought to be closed between the two dimensions. He needs to play hero to have any kind of meaning in his life at that moment. He also needs to try and resume his role as group Dad-- though as stated it's Dustin who ends up saving him in the end. All of this adventure could have probably been avoided just by going to Hopper with what they suspected they found, but it would have left for a shorter season for our friends. But it shows that trying to find his way and his neediness for other people is what could have led to his downfall since the Russians are secretly feeding prisoners to a demogorgon.

Positive Trait: Protective
Steve really is a genuine person. Combined with his insecurity and his neediness, it has built him as someone that actually does care. Whenever anyone in their small group is in trouble, he doesn't really think about himself or what might happen to him. There's no question about if he's going to do something, even when they end up at the Starcourt mall to force the mindflayer out. It's a trap that requires an all hands on deck.

When the kids are trying to defeat the mindflayer, he's there to reel them in when their ideas aren't that practical or overall safe for them. They might argue with him, but ultimately he wants to keep them safe. When Billy shows up to take Max and ends up being extremely racist, despite getting his ass beat, it's Steve that stands up to him. Steve also is ready to sacrifice himself when the Russians are trying to corner the Scoop Group when they decide to see what the Russians are up to. It's a critical moment, but it allows Dustin and Erika to get away. That's just the kind of person he is. For all his insecurities and stupid boy tendencies, he really does care and wants to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Powers and Abilities: He's mostly human. He can hit things really hard, just usually not human shaped things.
Inventory: A spiked bat and just his clothes.
